Strain Name: California Sunrise Hemp
Type of Strain: Indica-dominant hybrid strain at 65% Indica / 35% Sativa
Lineage of California Sunrise: Back-crossing of California Orange with California Orange
Brief History of California Sunrise: California Sunrise is created by a Mallorca-based cannabis breeder, Alpha Genetics. This Indica-dominant strain was made by back-crossing Californian Orange with another Californian Orange, creating a new strain that carries the best qualities of its parent strains when it comes to its effects as well as flavor and aroma.
Unfortunately, this strain has also inherited some of its parents’ poor traits. It doesn’t do very well in outdoor growing, especially when the weather turns colder. So the best way to grow this type of strain is indoors where there’s better temperature control.
Characteristics of California Sunrise Hemp: The plant has dominant Indica features with its broad, dark green leaves. The buds are Indica-looking as well. They are medium- to large-sized, dense, and roundish at the tip. Pale orange to reddish orange pistils wrap around the dense buds, with generous silvery white trichomes covering them.
The plant, itself, does not grow very tall, making it perfect for indoor growing since it doesn’t require too much space.
Growing Environment: Growing California Sunrise Hemp indoors is easy and requires medium maintenance with little fertilizer. But as mentioned earlier, this strain grows well indoors, so greenhouse cultivation is advised if you want to grow this plant.
The plant requires a sunny climate. So, even if you live in a colder climate and grow them indoors, you still might encounter some problems once the temperature hits below 50-degrees Fahrenheit at night.
Harvest Time: It produces a relatively moderate yield and typically flowers between 60 and 63 days.
Cannabinoid Profile of California Sunrise Hemp: What differentiates California Sunrise cannabis (marijuana) from hemp is its THC content. For the plant to be called hemp, there should be lower than 0.3% THC levels. Anything above 0.3% is considered cannabis or marijuana.
Our California Sunrise Hemp’s THC level is only at 0.17% and THCV at 0.02%, with a CBDA level of 10.17% and CBD of 1.25%. Other cannabinoids found in our hemp flowers include CBGA of 0.25%, CBG of 0.05%, and CBC of 0.15%. It also contains 0.26% THCA.

Flavors and Aromas of California Sunrise: The back-crossing of its parent strains has given California Sunrise a more potent aroma and flavor. It has a sweet and earthy aroma with refreshing citrusy scent reminiscent of orange zest. You’ll also notice strong hints of spices. Upon inhalation, it tastes sweet and tangy as well as citrusy.
Our California Sunrise hemp is grown and cultivated in Northern California. The rich soil and excellent care it receives give it an even more flavorful taste and aroma. One deep puff can leave you wanting more of this excellent hemp strain.
Type of High: The head high hits you first. You’ll feel a slight buzzing pressure inside your head and down your face. The head high is clear, so expect to feel energized after one deep puff.
As its Indica genes kick in, you’ll feel a relaxing warmth course through your body – from your head down to your toes. The head high then gives way to a strong body high that leaves you fully relaxed and calm. The smoke is smooth, so it doesn’t cause as much throat irritation as other strains.
This strain is perfect for beginners. The long-lasting head and body high is not so overpowering and won’t induce a couch-lock. Moreover, its low THC content won’t induce any psychoactive effects such as hallucinations, paranoia, and psychosis.
Positive Effects of California Sunrise: The initial head high can make your mind clearer and more focused. However, the full effects of this strain can leave you feeling euphoric, uplifted, happy, and fully relaxed.
Medical Conditions for California Sunrise Hemp: The effects of California Sunrise are perfect for the following medical conditions:
Of note, California Sunrise’s rich cannabinoid profile may also help in reducing chronic inflammation. This effect can help relieve chronic medical problems like arthritis and low back pain, which are exacerbated by low-grade chronic inflammation.
Best Used At: As an Indica-dominant strain, California Sunrise hemp is best used at nighttime as you prepare to relax and/or sleep. But because this strain is not known to produce couch-lock, you can also use it in daytime. It can give you a quick energy boost that can help you finish your tasks. The mental clarity it gives can also help boost your focus and concentration.
Negative Effects of California Sunrise: Similar to cannabis, California Sunrise hemp may also cause a dry, cotton mouth sensation. It can also give you dry eyes sensation. If you’re new to smoking hemp flowers, know that it can also trigger a headache and dizziness.
How to Get Rid of California Sunrise’s Side Effects: The side effects of California Sunrise typically wear off after a few hours. But if they become too much, you can take the edge off with some rest and sleep. You can also drink plenty of water to help with the dry eyes and dry mouth sensation.
Who Can Use California Sunrise Hemp: Hemp contains a rich amount of CBD, compared to THC. So if you’re after the health benefits of cannabinoids but want to avoid any psychoactive effects, then California Sunrise is perfect for you. People who can’t tolerate the effects of THC may also smoke hemp flowers and still get the same health benefits through the Entourage Effect of the different cannabinoids found in this flower.
